Days 1-2 / Washington, D.C.
Arrive in the nation’s capital and spend time exploring the city on your own. Day two of your vacation begins with a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol, followed by a guided tour of America’s capital with a local expert. You’ll see the White House, National Mall and many monuments and museums. Visit the World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial and the Korean War Memorial. Cap off the day with a special welcome dinner.
Day 3 / Washington, D.C.
Visit the White House Visitor Center and explore the history of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Choose between a visit to the National Air and Space Museum or the National Museum of American History. Enjoy free time in the afternoon to visit other Smithsonian museums, then consider an optional twilight tour of D.C. that includes dinner.
Day 4 / Arlington National Cemetery – Mount Vernon – Alexandria
A narrated tour of Arlington National Cemetery includes stops at the Tomb of the Unknowns and the Kennedy gravesites. In the afternoon, stroll the beautiful plantation grounds and tour Mount Vernon, home of George Washington. In Old Town Alexandria, stroll the cobblestone streets and admire the historic Colonial architecture before choosing your perfect spot for dinner.
Days 5-6 / Washington, D.C.
Learn about the history and craftsmanship of the Washington National Cathedral on a docent-led tour. In the afternoon, visit Ford’s Theatre where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. Tour the theatre and hear about the timeline of events that transpired as John Wilkes Booth’s plan unfolded. Join your fellow travelers for a special farewell dinner and depart for home in the morning.
