Tauck’s 7-night Southern Charms tour of iconic cities in Georgia and South Carolina sweeps you across the region with stays in luxury hotels and meals that would make Scarlett O’Hara swoon.

Days 1–2 / Savannah
Arrive in Savannah—the oldest city in Georgia—and transfer to The DeSoto hotel in the historic heart of the city. Enjoy a welcome cocktail reception at the hotel before dinner at 45 Bistro in one of Savannah’s oldest hotels. In the morning, visit the Massie Heritage Center, a living history resource chronicling its days as the city’s first public school in the mid-1800s to its closing in 1974. After a lunch of low country fare, see the city’s historic squares, homes and Civil War sites on a trolley tour.

Day 3 / Sea Islands Region – Savannah
Explore the coastal low country with a local guide, stopping at the Pin Point Heritage Museum for insights on the Gullah-Geechee community. You’ll see marshlands, old Spanish fortifications and Wormsloe Plantation en route back to Savannah. The evening is highlighted by a reception and Madeira wine tasting in the private garden of the Davenport House Museum and an after-hours tour and dinner at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force.

Day 4 / Fort Pulaski – Hilton Head Island
Visit Fort Pulaski National Monument, site of a pivotal Civil War battle, en route to Hilton Head for lunch at a local restaurant and an overnight stay by the sea.

Day 5 / Beaufort – Charleston
Head to Beaufort for a tour of nearby islands and an in-depth look at the culture and heritage of the Gullah people with a local. Enjoy a private cruise in Charleston Harbor before checking in to your hotel in the city’s historic district.

Day 6 / Charleston
Explore historic Charleston with a local expert. Discover cobblestone streets lined with centuries-old homes and pass walled gardens that whisper tales of pirates and soldiers. See the Citadel and the waterside Battery promenade lined with antebellum homes.

Days 7–8 / Charleston
Explore Magnolia Plantation and Gardens aboard a train and stroll through the gardens. Tour the mansion and stable yards at Middleton Place before a farewell dinner at your hotel. After breakfast, depart for home. A transfer from The Mills House Wyndham Grand hotel to Charleston International Airport is included.

*Tour prices are per person in U.S. dollars. I love to suggest Italy and Spain because of the culture and the flair of the people–their fashions, language and way of life. They take time to enjoy life's pleasures. When you're there, you feel it, too.
