Twice named a top river cruise line for families by Travel + Leisure magazine, Tauck offers enriching guided tours, small-ship cruises, river cruises and family travel experiences on all seven continents. In 2018, the popular river cruise line will be expanding its lineup of European itineraries.
“The Blue Danube,” an eight-day cruise along the river that inspired Johan Strauss II’s most famous waltz, stops in several of Europe’s most dazzling capital cities. Spend two nights in stately Budapest and bohemian Prague. Visit Schönbrunn Palace and spend an Imperial Evening in another private palace in Vienna. Take a walking tour of baroque Bratislava, Slovakia’s charming capital. See lesser-known sites, too, like Mozart’s Salzburg or the historic Czech town of Český Krumlov.
The 15-day “Budapest to Amsterdam by Riverboat” itinerary sails the Danube, too, but also the Rhine and the Main while traversing the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. Get unique views of Amsterdam on a canal cruise, then visit the world-famous Rijksmuseum. See the majestic Kölner Dom cathedral in Cologne, Germany. Attend an exclusive gala at a Viennese palace. Sightseeing choices in Nuremberg, Würzburg, Regensburg and Melk offer even more cultural delights.
“The Rhine and Moselle” guided vacation cruises for 13 days along the majestic Rhine and one of its main tributaries, sailing from Basel to Amsterdam (or vice versa). The experiences along the way are rich and varied: See cultural treasures in Strasbourg; mingle with the jet set in Swiss spa town Baden-Baden; visit the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial; and check out medieval masterpieces in Bernkastel, Trier and Cochem. Enjoy a Tauck-exclusive special gala dinner at a historic moated castle in Germany.
The seven-day “Rendezvous on the Seine” sails France’s romantic Seine, which flows through Paris and into the English Channel. Spend two nights in Paris a stone’s throw from the Eiffel Tower, then set sail on the Seine to Rouen, captured in all its glory in the Impressionist masterworks of Monet. In Le Havre, visit seaside Honfleur or explore World War II history on the nearby D-Day beaches. See the ruins of the Benedictine Jumièges Abbey, then taste cider and brandies at an orchard in Château Gaillard.
All of Tauck’s 361-foot Destination Fleet riverboats — the ms Emerald, the ms Sapphire, the ms Treasures and the ms Esprit — have been reimagined and redesigned for 2018. The deck plans have been optimized for maximum spaciousness, offering roomy cabins to accommodate no more than 98 guests. Tauck also added a second dining venue onto each ship that offers lighter fare in a more intimate setting. And while the ships may look new, Tauck’s signature service remains the same: Virtually every cruise experience is included, including all shore excursions and unlimited complimentary beverages on board, and the personalized attention from the Tauck Directors—there are three of them, plus a Tauck Cruise Director, aboard every ship—means an amazing, worry-free trip.
