Visit America’s capital during one of its prettiest times of the year—when some 1,700 cherry trees, given to the United States by Japan in 1912, burst with pink and white blossoms. At the center of the spring fling, a colorful parade rolls down Constitution Avenue in a display of elaborate floats, marching bands, oversized balloons and more. On your tour, take advantage of great photo opportunities at the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the National World War II Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery and the United States Capitol.

Day 1 / Washington, D.C.
Arrive in the nation’s capital, check in to your hotel and meet your fellow travelers at a welcome dinner. Afterward, a guided illuminated-monument driving tour showcases Washington’s grand buildings, memorials and monuments. Stop at the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial and the National World War II Memorial before returning to your hotel.

Day 2 / Washington, D.C.
Enjoy a stroll along the Tidal Basin to admire the blooming cherry blossoms. Stop at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial before boarding the Odyssey III for a lunch cruise on the Potomac. In the afternoon, visit the White House Visitor Center, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. In the evening, enjoy free time and dinner on your own in Old Town Alexandria.

Day 3 / Washington, D.C.
In the morning, your Premium-Preferred Grandstand seat is the perfect viewing point for the colorful cherry blossom parade. After lunch on your own in the Capitol Visitor Center cafeteria, tour the Capitol Visitor Center and the Library of Congress. End the day with dinner and an evening drive past monuments and must-sees, such as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Embassy Row, Washington National Cathedral and the Marine Corps War Memorial statue.

Days 4–5 / Washington, D.C.
After breakfast, depart for Arlington National Cemetery—America’s shrine to valor and sacrifice. Enjoy lunch on your own and visit the National Mall in the afternoon where you can spend time visiting the Smithsonian museums of your choice. Enjoy a farewell dinner before heading back to your hotel. In the morning, transfer to the airport for your flight home.

I love to suggest Italy and Spain because of the culture and the flair of the people–their fashions, language and way of life. They take time to enjoy life's pleasures. When you're there, you feel it, too.
