Where You'll Visit
- Lake Louise
As Rocky Mountaineer rolls through Fraser Canyon in British Columbia, the western red cedar forests of the Coast Mountains meld into the shrub steppe environment of the Interior Plateau. Settle into sumptuous GoldLeaf Service, and soon the glass-domed windows are filled by the walls of the Black Canyon, home to the imposing Hell’s Gate.
The “Canadian Rockies Getaway Circle” itinerary is an awe-inspiring rail journey as you travel through some of the world’s most majestic scenery. View the Black Canyon from the outdoor viewing platform before dining on poached salmon and B.C. Chardonnay.
After overnighting in Kamloops, follow the North Thompson River deep into the Selkirk Mountains, crossing the spectacular 124-year old truss arch Stanley Creek Bridge. The bridge provides views only train passengers will see. Mount Robson, the tallest peak in the Canadian Rockies, dashes in and out of view as the engine climbs toward Jasper.
Multiday rail travel often means limited off-car excursions. Not on this rail adventure. Enjoy hours of exploration in Jasper and Banff, and slumber in luxurious hotel accommodations. Hike, paddle or simply choose to relax beside Lac Beauvert, Lake Louise and Bow Falls.
Jasper and Lake Louise are linked by the Columbia Icefield, the largest accumulation of ice and snow south of the Arctic. Draining into the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic oceans, this icescape contains teal-colored moraine lakes and scores of jagged peaks. Explore the 13-square mile Athabasca Glacier on a custom Ice Explorer.
Take this once-in-a-lifetime journey for unbridled travel inspiration, featuring pristine nature and first-class accommodations.
